A widely recognized leader and frequent keynote speaker, Dr. Racht received his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Racht will join AMR effective September 20, 2010.

  • San Diego Ambulance Strike Team Dispatched to Earthquake Zone  04.06.10

    (San Diego, California) In response to a request from the California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA), American Medical Response of San Diego (AMR San Diego) in conjunction with the County of San Diego Emergency Medical Services and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department activated an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance Strike Team (AST) which is currently traveling to Calexico, California. Led by an Ambulance Strike Team Leader (ASTL), the AST consists of five (5) Paramedic ambulances, and a Disaster Medical Support Unit (DMSU). Collectively, these resources will provide vital surge capacity to assist local authorities in delivering essential emergency medical services (EMS) given increased demand associated with recent seismic activity.

    Amarillo, Texas, January 19, 2010 - American Medical Response (AMR) reported a smooth transition of service after assuming responsibility of Amarillo's 9-1-1 ambulance service at 12:00 a.m. on January 17, 2010. AMR will continue to operate the ambulance service under the name Amarillo Medical Services (AMS). In the first 48 hours of service to Amarillo, AMS responded to 133 calls for service and transported 108 patients to local area hospitals and healthcare facilities.

  • AMR’s Connecticut Statewide Communications Center Receives Re-Accreditation  01.06.10

    New Haven, Conn., January 6, 2010 – American Medical Response's (AMR) Connecticut statewide Communication Center has received re-accreditation as an Emergency Medical Dispatch Center of Excellence from the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED). Of the 92 NAED accredited communication centers around the world, the AMR Connecticut center was the twenty-third to receive initial accreditation in 1998. The center received re-accreditation for its comprehensive implementation and compliance with the NAED's Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) and associated "20 Points of Excellence."
