Northwest Division
Headquartered in Seattle, WA, the Northwest Division includes more than 15 local operations in Washington, Oregon and Montana. AMR's Northwest operations include some of the oldest in the company. In Portland, OR, Buck Ambulance, which is now part of AMR, began serving the community in 1913. Shepard Ambulance in Seattle, also now a part of AMR, began operating in 1923. AMR's Northwest Division has the distinction of being one of the few private ambulance services to have its own River Rescue Team. On two rivers in the Portland area this program has reduced drowning mortality to zero at sites previously ranked in the top four for mortality in Oregon. The division employs nearly 1,000 people. The division's chief operating officer is Randy Strozyk.

Southwest & Hawaii Division
AMR's Southwest and Hawaii Division includes operations in Southern California, Nevada and Hawaii. Since our predecessor companies began here in 1946, our presence has continued to spread throughout the region, largely because of our commitment to performance. AMR's Las Vegas / Clark County, NV, operation, for example, has produced such stellar performance in recent years that in 2006 it was granted a 10-year contract, one of the longest contracts in AMR history. The chief operating officer for the division is Kurt Williams.

South Division
AMR's South Division, based in Dallas, Texas, includes operations in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Besides operating some of the busiest and largest urban-area contracts in the company, this division also oversees one of the largest non-emergency medical transportation plans in the United States, managing nearly a million transports a year for Texas Medicaid patients.
AMR is the largest private ambulance provider in Texas and serves the three largest municipal areas, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio as well as the state capital of Austin. In Houston, we are the provider for the largest hospital system in Texas, the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, and we serve the largest medical center in the world. We provide EMS service to the U.S. Army's Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, home of the U.S. Army's Medical Command. We also serve as the transport provider for Brook Army Medical Center, one of the Army's leading Level I trauma facilities, which houses the Institute of Surgical Research (ISR), the Army's premier burn treatment facility.
In 2008, AMR completed its acquisition of River Medical, the exclusive provider of emergency and non-emergency ambulance transportation services to Lake Havasu City and La Paz and Mohave Counties in
western Arizona. River Medical provides nearly 12,300 transports annually.
AMR's South Division played a major role in the response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, providing support to coastal Mississippi and Louisiana along with Houston and Galveston, as well as completing several hospital evacuations and FEMA missions.
AMR's South Mississippi operations gained national recognition for their wide-ranging response to communities and individuals. Because of careful planning, AMR was one of the few emergency providers with communication capability after the storm.
Also, on its own, AMR was the first provider to send abulances into Louisiana to transport and rescue hurricane victims. The chief operating officer for the division is Ted Van Horne.

Northeast Division
AMR's Northeast Division includes 28 ambulance operations, some almost as old as the country itself. We employ more than 3,200 people in five Northeastern and New England states, including New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.
AMR started in the Northeast. In the early 1990s more than a dozen New England companies, starting with New Haven (Connecticut) Ambulance, decided to merge and form American Medical Response. Since then, our operations and locations have spread across the country. Our Northeast operations have been called on to serve other regions of the country. During the Hurricane Katrina disaster, AMR's Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York operations supplied dozens of personnel and vehicles for the massive rescue and evacuation efforts. After the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City, AMR's New Haven operation deployed 30 fully equipped ambulances to lower Manhattan, making AMR one of the first crews on the scene. AMR then deployed more than 100 vehicles from other nearby operations to assist with the rescue. Dan O'Brien is the division's chief operating officer.
